We broke ground in March of 2002 on the Barn. We were just gonna' be a fruit
stand - I swear! Keep it real simple - be open 3 months outta' the year.
Sell a few
pies. Maybe some soup. Well -- THAT didn't work out very
well now, did it?!
I took progressive pictures of "The Barn" (aka "fruit stand") construction
from the day we broke ground. It's kind of interestin'.
Check it out!
Dad planted the blueberries in the spring of 2000. They've shown
phenomenal growth and done much better than all those lousy skeptics
thought! Kidding. Actually - they've done MUCH better than even WE
anticipated.
Raspberries
The following spring, 2001,
Dad planted some Dinkum Raspberries. These have also done
exceptionally well. U-pick from spring through late fall.
Hull
Thornless Blackberries - Huge & super sweet! Available for u-pick
Strawberries
Spring
2009 we decided to plant some beautiful, sweet strawberries. We
had a small crop in summer 2009, as is typical with strawberries
the first year. The second year, that we're just coming into, we
should have a pretty abundant crop. We're still kind of wingin'
it, so we can't answer a lot of specific questions about them yet.
We're going to see how it goes and learn as we go. There are 2
varieties: Tristar & Benton. Pickable late spring through
fall.
