UPDATE 4/12/08 Ok. So here's
the "scoop". We
have 4 varieties available...with limited quantities. Folks, these
are going to go really quickly as there's a limited supply nationwide.
$20/ea.
DukeEarly Season
Fruit is LARGE,
light blue, firm with a mild flavor.
Bush is open, stocky, multicaned &
upright. Vigorously growing & very productive plants.
Grows from 4-6 feet tall.
This attractive berry is quite firm and retains its fresh quality longer
than most varieties. Duke blooms late but ripens early. It is one of the
heaviest, most consistent producers, often yielding over 20 pounds per bush
when mature. Duke bushes are upright growers but the branches will droop to
the ground when laden with fruit. The foliage turns yellow-orange in fall.
Gorgeous in landscape! Known for its high, early yields & excellent quality
fruit. Bush is strong & one of the most productive varieties grown. Heavy
pruning is advised to retain the large berry size. It’s been stated that
“the only disadvantage to Duke (if there is one) is that it can be a
challenge to keep the bush vigorous and growing well over a long period of
time if growers don’t employ good cultural practices to keep the bush
vigorous and productive.”

SpartanEarly Season
Fruit is VERY LARGE,
superb fresh quality with outstanding flavor.
Upright bush moderately vigorous
and moderately productive.
Spartan
blooms late but ripens early, and is frost resistant. The berries are very
attractive and one of the largest, often covering a QUARTER. Flavor is one
of the best of all highbush. Spartan can be sight specific, preferring
light, well drained soil. Once this variety is established in a favorable
site, it can be hard to beat!

2006 Pick Dates: July 3-14
BlueRay
Mid Season
LARGE, very light
blue fruit, firm with excellent flavor.
Medium to large scar. Upright,
multicaned, productive & vigorous.
BlueRay
particularly excels in marginal blueberry growing areas where winters
are more severe, but northern highbush can still be grown. This is
particularly well suited for direct market farms where LARGE SIZE & SUPERIOR
FLAVOR are important. Does best in intensive (close) plantings with severe
pruning.
Blueberry Hills'
2006 Pick Dates (2 pickings): July 15-21 / July 27-31
ChandlerLate Season

What variety of blueberry plant is best for us? Ok, Folks. This is the advice I give people…
Get at least 2 different varieties Blueberries cross pollinate & produce better with a second variety
to hang out with. Hey. Just like people.
Compare the seasons You can stretch your picking season out by getting plants that produce at
different times.
All four of these varieties are cold hardy and great for our area. We recommend all
four of them, as they’re all part of our U-Pick and have done
extremely well over the 8 years we've had 'em.
How to care for ‘em? We've got extensive information here on our website for Blueberry Planting &
Care. I like the funny version
better, but the boring
one has it's place too. Read 'em both!
Thanks
Folks!

BlueCrop
Mid Season
Medium to Large & very firm.
Moderate to High yield.
Noted for “very good tart flavor” when ripe.
Upright, open
growing bush to 4-6 feet high. Vigorous growth & very productive.
Bluecrop is still the industry’s standard of excellence, most reliable and
by far the most widely planted of any cultivar. An easy bush to grow,
BlueCrop has very few problems. It can withstand spring frosts quite well
with high consistent yields. Considered the best all around variety for
consistent yields, large, high quality fruit, and disease resistance. There
are other varieties with better ornamental value but none better in the
garden.

BlueGold
Mid—Late Season
Medium sized, very flavorful, firm fruit.
High yield.
Concentrated ripening & superior quality.
Compact,
spreading bush to 4 feet tall. Vigorous growth & very productive.
The beautiful, compact, rounded bush grows only four feet tall but bears
large clusters of easy-to-pick berries. Unusual yellow fall foliage and
yellow winter wood followed by bright white spring flowers make BlueGold a
year round beauty. A pleasant surprise was the very high production of truly
superior fruit. The berries are very firm, flavorful and evenly sized. Shelf
life in normal storage as well as controlled atmosphere has been outstanding
due to its small recessed scar. A particularly exciting feature is the
concentrated ripening, making BlueGold one of the easiest varieties for hand
harvest.
